March 6 Meeting and New Members

To anyone who can be free, I'm calling a meeting for this Saturday. Agenda will be:

* Summer activities specifically Nihonggo lessons and P-chan's Japanese Fine Dining/Cooking activity.
* Proposed trip to Bouncing Ball, an animation company based in Cebu Business Park.
* CCC event.
* One more very important matter that I will not disclose online.

So who can come, confirm here please. The last meeting was cancelled because so few confirmed that they will be attending. We need people to confirm either thru here, SMS or YM so the same misinterpretation will not happen again.

This time we shall meet at Ayala Terraces, outside Seattle's Best. Actual place to meet and talk will be decided on the day itself. Meeting time will be 3-4 pm.

CIO-AMAGE Meet-and-Greet Part 2

Hi, everyone. We all know that there have been new members joining us in the past few months. We, the officers, decided that it is time that we organize another meet-and-greet session.

The date will be this Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. We have specifically chosen this hour so that those that will be working can be available and will be able to join, especially the new members of the club. We hope the current ones can also have the time to join us as well.

The meeting will be somewhere in the Jones area since there are Nihonggo classes before that. If you can arrive before 7:00 pm do drop by at Club Ultima, Crown Regency Tower 2, at the 18th or 19th floor. To those that can't make it before 7:00, feel free to drop an SMS at 09234503052. Just make sure to identify yourself.

Agenda will include getting to know the new members, so that they can have an idea whose face belongs to which username. There might also be discussion about the J-music Festival but the focus will be in knowing the new members.

Note: This post was posted in Istorya.net three weeks ago. However, I (Seishi) had been too busy to paste this here since I had other things to do. Apologies if this seems like short notice but actually this had been announced three weeks ago. Still, we do hope you guys can come.

Japanese Fine Dining: A Success!

On behalf of Gem-sensei, I would like to acknowledge and thank everyone for contributing to a highly successfully Japanese fine dining event. This is CIO-AMAGE's first event ever, and without you guys there would be no success! Thank you again! ^___^

Recent Updates for the Club

Hello, everyone this is Seishi with updates for our dearly beloved Cebu Integrated Organization of Anime Manga and Games Enthusiasts. Hehehe, kumpleto jud no?

Anyway, updates on our forums. Our CIO-AMAGE website is now up thanks to the efforts of PJ, whose Yahoo! ID is banehallow2. For now, we are using a free account because we don't have the funds to do maintain paid hosting, but it would've been worth the expense. Because of that, we have a limitation to our forums: registered users do not receive confirmation emails for their registration, hence there is the need for the site admin (me, in this instance) to manually approve the registration on the users' behalf. While this is not a problem (officers, you need to become admins together with me so YM me, i'll give you the username and pass), it can be time consuming.

According to the PJ, that's about the only problem we have with the site.

Good news! We have decided to push through with the planned J-music Festival, which has a tentative date somewhere in September. Clearly, it would be a Saturday so that everyone can be available. Now, I need your suggestions? What time should the event start and what time should it end? I'm asking this because we have different age groups in this organization and clearly some of you would be adhering to strict curfews that limit the hours of your participation. Make suggestions through the comments, and then soon we shall have a poll to see which is the most popular choice.

Minna-san, your inputs will be crucial for the selection of venues, as some places are available on hours like 3pm-11pm. Arigatou!

Minutes of May 2, 2009 Meeting

Kombanwa, Minnasan. Here I am once again for the updates on the latest meeting that the society has undertaken. In a summary, we have discussed several proposals for activities relating to the org. We have also included appointment of officers. Take note that we founders have decided to take on the presidential positions because of lack of members, and to show the next batch of officers as to how the organization should be carried out.

13 will post information on the mission and vision, as well as the goals, of CIO-AMAGE once her connection problems have been fixed and her Internet's good to go. For the meantime, here are the minutes posted verbatim from our secretary, Lemaine.

Cebu Anime and Manga Organization’s Meeting via Yahoo! Messenger

March 2, 2009, 8:00-9:00 P.M.

1. Members were reminded of the submission of the organization’s name. Deadline will be on March 6, 2009.
2. Proposal of the meeting was brought up and approved. The date and time was decided.
3. The members gave suggestions for the venue. The choices were narrowed to two; ayala business park and ayala terraces. Members weighed the pros and cons. To settle the issue, a votation took place.
4. The activity during the gathering will be introductions with a twist.
5. The meeting was then adjourned.

Congrats everyone! We are slow but steadily making progress ;) So far, these were the proposals and decisions made by the members during the Yahoo! Messenger conference. Again, thanks sa nang-attend. We really appreciate your involvement. Sa wala, ok ra pero attend mo next time ha.

What: Cebu Anime and Manga Society Gathering
When: April 18, 2009, 1:00 P.M.
Where: Ayala Terraces (grounds)
Who: All members of the organization
Why: It’s more like a grand eyeball event wherein members will be able to meet and interact with fellow anime enthusiasts. Introductions will be made by each member however there would be a twist. Each of you will present or bring something that shows your interest or hobby relating but not limited to anime, manga, cosplay, jmusic, jdrama, fanarts, and fanfics. For example, if you love cosplaying, you can attend the gathering wearing a costume. If you love Japanese music, you can dress up like the singer/artist you chose and perform a small presentation. It’s up to you! ;) Let your imagination and interests weave a performance that shows your uniqueness. ^_^

Welcome everyone!!!

It all started on an istorya.net thread entitled Anime Club/Organization/Society in Cebu announcing the message:

“To all anime enthusiasts and otaku in Cebu, are any of you interested in an anime organization based in Cebu that will cater our needs relating to Japanese pop culture specifically anime, manga, cosplaying, j-pop, jdrama, fanfics, fanarts, etc.? either you are passionate and dedicated enough to do this or simply interested or intrigued, an expert in anime or medyo2 lang, it doesn't matter. C'mon guys, feel free to join.”

Unfortunately, the club became inactive and the plans were unable to push through. However, we are going to link our arms and try to resurrect it. This would really be difficult considering that we have to start from scratch. The name AMBU won through election but some members were unable to give their votes. We’ll just consider it null and void.
Going back to starting this organization from scratch, we need anime and manga enthusiasts that are passionate enough to work in achieving its goals and building a strong foundation to materialize our hopes of having a unified anime society here in Cebu.

For now, our main agendum is to gather and document old members and individuals who are interested in joining.

We really need your cooperation and willingness to make the plan of building a community of anime and manga fanatics. Take note that there is no particular qualification for individuals interested in joining. Wait, do they have to be residents of Cebu? ;p Anyway, as what I have said before, you just need to be dedicated, interested, intrigued, and passionate enough. Being über knowledgeable isn’t necessary.
