CIO-AMAGE Christmas Party 2009

Hello, everyone. It's the time of year once again where we gather for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is just a few days away, and so is our organization's Christmas party. Our first ever Christmas party will be held on December 23, 2009 lunch time at Family Park, Talamban, Cebu City.

Some of the members have volunteered to bring food for the party, and if anyone wants to do so, that would be appreciated. If you can't, that's no problem. You can still come to the party. We also have funds earned from the Otaku Fest booth we maintained, so we all can have an unforgettable first Christmas party for CIO-AMAGE.

To those that want to join, drop me an offline message on or before December 21 by:
* Dropping me an offline or online message at my YM seishi17.
* Listing yourself at our official thread in istorya if you have an account there. The link is here.
* Emailing me if you think that's convenient. My email address is mayapching -at- gmail.com.

There will also be an exchanging gift portion during the party. Participation is not compulsory of course. Please indicate in your message if you want to join the exchanging gift portion, because I need to make a list so that I can prepare the numbers for the gifts. We will mark each gift with a number and each participant will get a number from the box to determine which gift he receives. I would need to know how many will participate so I can make the exact number of rolled paper for that.

The gift does not have to be expensive. It's the thought that counts.

Cosplaying is also welcome during the party.

CIO-AMAGE Meet-and-Greet Part 2

Hi, everyone. We all know that there have been new members joining us in the past few months. We, the officers, decided that it is time that we organize another meet-and-greet session.

The date will be this Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. We have specifically chosen this hour so that those that will be working can be available and will be able to join, especially the new members of the club. We hope the current ones can also have the time to join us as well.

The meeting will be somewhere in the Jones area since there are Nihonggo classes before that. If you can arrive before 7:00 pm do drop by at Club Ultima, Crown Regency Tower 2, at the 18th or 19th floor. To those that can't make it before 7:00, feel free to drop an SMS at 09234503052. Just make sure to identify yourself.

Agenda will include getting to know the new members, so that they can have an idea whose face belongs to which username. There might also be discussion about the J-music Festival but the focus will be in knowing the new members.

Note: This post was posted in Istorya.net three weeks ago. However, I (Seishi) had been too busy to paste this here since I had other things to do. Apologies if this seems like short notice but actually this had been announced three weeks ago. Still, we do hope you guys can come.

Thanks.

Ijou.

Announcements on the J-music Festival

It is unfortunate that we, the organizers, have decided to indefinitely postpone the J-music Festival. This is because of certain circumstances that have made the earlier mentioned date impossible to meet even though we have been planning for several months now.

The planning had been good up until we got stalled because of the earlier selected venue. Up until now there have been no feedback despite continued follow ups by us, the organizers, thus forcing us to look for alternate venues. We have received word that a faculty member in USC-TC is interested in negotiating the venue for us, however, we still have no feedback considering that they are currently busy and, worse, the person who has the authority to let use the CAFA grounds is difficult to reach.

We recognize now that, though it is possible to gain permission to use the venue, the time needed to make the preparations like advertising, setting the place up, planning the programme is simply not enough. We could push it through this month if we are willing to risk a messy organization of the event, which we are not. You deserve the best event that you can get.

As for the new date, we are considering a lot of options and seeing how we can possibly fit in because of the many anime-related events that are coming. We don't want to make the postponement too long as interest might wane, but we also have to be realistic about it regarding the placing of the date in relation to the other events.

Personal inquiries are welcome. Please contact me at seishi17 if you have questions, or even suggestions. We will be launching a poll soon to see what dates are feasible for the event. Thank you and good day.

Official DicCIOnary Part 1

Just lately, the members of CIO-AMAGE (Cebu Integrated Organization of Anime, Manga and Games Enthusiasts) have realized that CIO has such a lot of usage in our lingo. Due to that, Gem-sensei approached me and asked me to post a dicCIOnary for words in the lingo of our organization.

Please note that CIO is pronounced SHO.

For those wanting to learn the CIO-AMAGE vocabulary, I am compiling a dicCIOnary for the organization.

iCIO
Origin: Seishi

Definition:
Stories about members that warrant attention and discussion from the members. This could also refer to periodic publications on the activities of the organization. It is also a declaration of the start of any CIO-AMAGE activity.

Examples:
Two members are a hot item; they are discussed as an iCIO by the members

Pictures of the fine dining activity in October 10 as labeled as October 10, 2009 iCIO. Similar to magazines and comic books.

iCIO time! (It's show time!)

Show CIOpport
Origin: Gem-sensei

Definition:
As part of the organization's goals, we are to show support to the many activities and events relating to our scope.

Examples:
CIO-AMAGE lent CIOpport to CCC's cosmeets for this year and for LU's Hobcon.

DicCIOnary
Origin: Gem-sensei

Description:
A compilation of words used in the CIO-AMAGE lingo.

Non-CIObiz
Origin: Seishi

Description:
This is a term used to describe people outside of CIO-AMAGE but still gets entangled in iCIO's.

Examples:
Shuurei has a new guy she has the hots on; but he's non-CIObiz.

These are the first three terms that we have come up with. This vocabulary will surely grow in time as long as we find opportunities to use the word CIO. Hahaha.

No CIOw
Origin: Jane

Description:
Indianero. Does not show up during meetings either as a group or private, non-CIO activities.

MiCIOn-ViCIOn
Origin: Jane

Description:
The goals of CIO-AMAGE.

Official Announcements: J-Music Festival

Today, September 20, 2009, members of CIO-AMAGE convened at Ayala Center Cebu to discuss the upcoming J-music Festival. We have finalized some details about the event, which makes it official.

The event will be held at the Talamban Leisure Center, on November 7, 2009. It is to begin at 3 pm and will end 7:30 for a total of 3 hours and a half of live Japanese music courtesy of local independent talents that we have recruited. One of this is the CIO-AMAGE band comprised of members X, Nao, Kyn and Seishi, as well as Marco, Josef and Adrian.

Details of the event is as follows:

Registration

Because of the size of the venue and the fact that this is the first of its kind, we have decided to limit participants to only 100 persons. We'd love to accommodate more but the venue and the finances are against us.

Registration can be done two ways: online pre-registration and actual registration on the site itself. Those that pre-registered will only have to present a ticket that we will soon be issuing.

To ensure smooth flow of the event, we have decided to have a registration time of 1 pm-2:30 for walk-in registrants. Pre-registered audiences will only have to present the official ticket in order to be admitted anytime.

Schedule of charges is as followed:

* Pre-registration will cost only PHP45.
* Walk-in registrants will pay PHP60.
* Late registrants will be charged an additional PHP10 on top of the PHP60 registration.

Pre-registration can be done by emailing the following CIO-AMAGE members:

* Seishi at mayapching@gmail.com
* X at rockmanzerox105@yahoo.com
* Nao at dragoon_abbey@yahoo.com

Deadline for pre-registration will be at October 31, 2009. Slots are limited people. We will work out the details for collection of pre-registration payments next meeting and will update you accordingly.

Note, please send the email to ALL three recipients. We're doing this for archiving purposes.

Bands

For now, we have been able to recruit only two bands for the event excluding the CIO band. To those that are interested, we would need you to submit registration info. Remember, this is on a first come, first serve basis so please submit as soon as possible.

Deadline for submission will be October 10, 2009. Please register only if you're serious about participating in the event. Please submit the following information:

* Name of band and individual members
* Song line up

Each band is limited to 7 s0ngs or 1 hour each maximum. If you would like to play and cannot meet the designated maximum, please indicate so we can set up the programme accordingly.

You can make inquiries by contacting Seishi at his YM ID, seishi17 or Nao at dragoon_abbey.

Booths

We are allowing other clubs to set up their booths during the event, but since space is constrained we are limiting it to 2 booth only as we will use one of the three booths that can be accommodated at the venue. If you're interested, please inform Seishi through YM at seishi17 or send an email to the three aforementioed addresses.

That's all, everyone. See you at the event!

New CIO-AMAGE Registration Form

Due to the rising need for a new registration form (the first one does not work because I cannot access the receiving email), I decided to create a new one to make the process simpler. Refer your referrals to this blog post the next time someone asks how to register. All fields at the form are required, just put in N/A if unsure.

You won't be able to receive a confirmation email. Instead, I will add you up in Yahoo! Messenger or reply personally to your registration the moment I receive your email. Thank you. For some reason I cannot fathom, the form can be accessed by scrolling down a bit. I hate this.

Arigatou, Minna-san. Let's continue to work together. Gambatte!

Minutes of the September 12, 2009 Meeting

Greetings!

Below is the summary of the September 12 meeting regarding the upcoming JMusic Festival:

Attendees:
- Seishi
- Red
- Maykee
- Ruji
- Shuurei
- Jane

Matters discussed:
Final venue and schedule
Venue: Talamban Leisure Center
Date: November 7, 2009
Time: 3pm to 8pm

Venue is already booked but we still have to pay the down payment. The amount is based on the quotation from TLC courtesy of April.

It was suggested that the entrance and entrance be closed by 3pm excespt for pre-registered audiences and a 2-3pm call time to ensure that program starts on time.

In light of the problems raised during the Cebu Cosplayers' Club's Yo! Start of School event, concerns regarding the occurrence of a possible brown-out were brought up by the attendees. A back-up plan is still to be made and coordinate this with TLC management.

Venue setup/preparations will be done a day before the event. Time will be after 6pm. Persons involved: Maykee, Ruji, Seishi and Jane, volunteers will be appreciated.

Sponsors - still to followed up

Sound Systems/Instruments/Projector... - to be followed up by Seishi

Suggested Program Details

Master of the Ceremony: - Seishi and members of the CIO band.
Intermission numbers: 3
- song number c/o Kara
- anime dubbing video presentation c/o Seishi and co.
- dance number by CIO-AMAGE members c/o Jane. Any volunteers to join will be appreciated.

Tentative number of bands: 5

Seishi still has to screen the bands and negotiate for the number of Japanese songs they could handle per set. Program flow will be finalized once the number of songs per set will be settled and the bands finalized. Gifts for the bands will depend on the budget.

Media Coverage

Since this is an important event for the history of CIO-AMAGE, documentation is extremely needed for J-Music Festival. Professional photographers will be invited but we can't be sure of their presence so we need CIO members who owns a camera to cover the event for documentation purposes.

Seishi suggested to make a video teaser/trailer to promote the event.

Committees

Crowd Control
Heads: Shuurei and Ruji

Registration
Head: Maykee

Logistics/Stage Setup
Heads: Jane and Red

Definite responsibilities for each committee will be discussed next meeting and additional committees may be established.

Volunteers are needed to fill up these committees.

It was suggested that a theme for the event be conceptualized for decoration purposes.

Post event activity
Collect and analyze feedback from audience regarding the reception of the event, so we can decide to organize another bigger event next year.

Other matters
CIO-AMAGE general meeting on September 20.
Time and Venue: TBA

That's all!

Updates on the J-music Festival

Hi Everyone,

This is your ever-friendly secret secretary working through the minutes for the JMusic Festival.

!start of updates!

Venue: TLC Talamban

We are strongly leaning towards having the whole event in TLC. To ensure that we have other options, we have two other target places we are putting into consideration: or Sacred Heart JesuitsBugRock.

Date: November 7, 2009
Time: 3PM - 8PM

That's the date settled for TLC. It may be moved earlier but not later depending on the venue but this is the target date.

Sponsors: To be followed up

We have action items for this week to ensure that there will be a movement for solicitation. Here are the to-do's of the managers of this event:

Seishi: assigned to contact bands and create the template for the letters to our sponsors. He will also contact Mr. Donut and San Miguel to request for sponsorship.

Red: to send Jane the CIO logo (target date of completion is September 7). He will also contact Maiykee for sponsorship. He will contact Istorya for additional sponsorship once we have finalized the venue and line up. Approve concert pass template from Jane.

X : to contact Purefoods for possible sponsorship.

Jane: design concert pass/ticket for event.

Ruji : to hunt for additional sponsors.

Nao : Follow up on quotations from TLC, check with SHSJ for alternative venues.

Target date for completion of tasks is on September 12, 2009.

Program Proper

We have convened that a registration fee is necessary for this event. We are looking at the following prices:

*Pre-registration: 45php
On-site: 60php

*pre-registration fee should be payed a week before the event. A pre-reg ticket will be given upon payment. Perks for pre-reg individuals is still under consideration.

The reason behind the registration fee is simple. We need to ensure that we will be able to start getting funds from events that we organize. Raising funds is necessary to help the organization work on more activities and events. Without funds, we won't be able to hold free or affordable activities for the group members.

Projected Event Population: Since this event is limited to a certain number of people (for now), we are looking at 80 attendees including the band members.

Number of bands performing: 6 (including the CIO band)
Number of JAPANESE songs to be performed:7

Intermission
numbers are being looked at and will be screened. These small productions will be inserted after every band performance to allow the band members to be able to prepare and get ready. This portion of the program is still subject for planning and screening. For those who are interested, I suggest you send your suggestions otherwise we will decide on our own.

Screening Schedule for interested Bands: September 19 and September 27 since the CCC cosmeet is on the 26th; venue will be decided by X and Seishi

~Ijo

!end of transmission!

I would like to recognize the presence of the following
Attendees:

Red

Jane

You rock. :D

Later,

Nao.

Upcoming Events: CCC Yo~SoS

Konnichiwa, Minna-san. Kochira wa Seishi desu. I am here right now to post about upcoming events hosted and sponsored by our affiliate club, the Cebu Cosplayers Club.

This event was supposed to have taken place last June, but due to concerns about the rampant fear of the A(H1N1) virus and the swine flu, Sasuke-senpai and the organizers of the event moved the date to August 15th from an initial June setting.

Nevertheless it is part of our goals to provide support for anime-related events to attend this said event. Whoever is free is encouraged to come and help in the event. Sasuke-senpai specifically needs our help as event marshalls as well, and the CIO-AMAGE is better poised to provide this support for Yo~ SoS.

The event will take place on August 15, 2009. It starts at 9 am until 6 pm. The venue for the event will be at the Talamban Leisure Center, in Banilad, Cebu City. For a map to the venue, please check out the sketch posted by Weebong, one of the co-founders of CCC. The map can be found here.

We have the option of setting up a booth for our organization, a courtesy extended to us by the Cebu Cosplayers Club. We welcome suggestions for this booth, which we officers intend to use as promoting our own club since otakus will certainly be attending the event.

This event will also mark the debut of our J-band, spearheaded by me and X-kun. Please support us as well.
